Mission

Overview

This six week program consists of two contact hours per week in a group setting with a certified Eating Psychology Coach and practicing Yoga Instructor.

All participants also have access to a one-to-one 60 minute private coaching session.

The program includes a practical hands on day out to local markets, health food store and picnic in the park to learn optimum shopping and sharing food practices!

This training is steeped in common sense, mindfulness and intuitive eating habits; providing participants with simple founding principles applicable in all aspects of living a successful and nourishing life.

To provide vulnerable and socially marginalised members of the community with accessible information in general nutrition, self care, and mental wellness that will support them to live better lives.

Program

Week 1

Your Powerful Story

Introduction to the overall program, sharing my story, sharing stories of past clients successes.

Client introductions and personal stories.

Discussion: what is mindfulness and the psychology of eating

Practical task - journal your food and body story

Weekly task - notice three things about what and why you eat.

Week 2

Stressed versus Relaxed Eating

Recap on previous week and sharing experiences.

Discussion: coping with let downs, mistakes and self-criticism.

How stress affects our thinking and digestive system.

What is the science behind stress on the body and mind? 

Mindfulness meditation 

Practical task - journal what stresses you, what relaxes you

Weekly task: notice your breathing

Week 3

What is Nourishment

Recap and sharing on previous week.

Discussion: what does it mean to feel nourished?

Is nourishment the same as health?

How would you know you are nourished, what are the signs? What does environment have to do with it?

What does it mean to experience pleasure in life?

What are your deeper desires in life?

Who is in charge of your nourishment and pleasure?

Mindfulness meditation / yoga 

Practical task - write a nourishment/pleasure list 

Weekly task - do at least one thing from your list.

Week 4

Embodiment as Healing Therapy

Recap on previous week

Discussion: Movement versus exercise

What movement do you like?

How can you turn to movement as a coping / inspiration strategy?

Why does it feel so hard to move when we are sad?

What is the science behind moving?

Movement practices explore dance and yoga

Practical task - write all the ways you like to move

Weekly task: experiment throughout the week

Week 5

Forgiveness & Agreeing to Be Here

Recap from last week

Discussion: what does it mean to forgive and why would we want to forgive others and ourselves?

How can forgiveness open me up to experiencing life in a more peaceful, calm and enjoyable way?

How can I learn to accept myself and do the best with what I have?

Movement session & guided meditation

Practical Task - write a forgiveness letter to anyone who you are angry with, including the self. Explore the idea of forgiveness from a place of being honest without any criticism.

Weekly task - practice saying sorry in the moment

Week 6

Macro-Nutrient Balance & Food Quality

Recap on previous week

Discussion: how do I know if I am eating right?

What are the essentials of a good diet?

What if I have allergies?

What about alcohol, cigarettes and drugs?

What is the difference between processed foods and wholefoods?

How can I make eating well delicious and affordable?

Meditation 

Practical task - list all of your favourite foods and how they make you feel after you have eaten them. List all of your least favourite foods and why you dislike them.

Weekly task - food journal

Held after week 6 session

Practical Day - Markets & Picnic Day Out

Group visit to the health food store or local market.

Looking at wholefood produce versus processed foods.

Building confidence and awareness.

Understanding labels, used by dates, canned versus fresh, local versus imported food.

We will purchase food together as a group with a budget of $20 per person and share a picnic to discuss and incorporate all the themes from the previous six weeks.

Use the information from week 6, favourite foods to create a small banquet for all to share.

Provide supportive information on socially appropriate practices when it comes to eating out with others.

The practical day out will last for 2 hours.

Participants will need to find their own way to the meeting point which will be located centrally.

What Participants Need

Willingness to participate in a group work.

A Journal and pen will be provided.

Yoga mats will be provided.

Outcome

Participants will complete the training with an appreciation of how to take care of themselves mentally, physically and spiritually in a simple, no fuss way that will help create healthy habits long term.

They will also have the confidence and know-how to shop in health food stores and at farmers markets giving them practical experience in having greater control over their own health on a day-to-day basis.

Investment

Number of participants: 10 maximum.

For a total of 25 contact hours which includes group and individual coaching.

 

Total cost $2,125

For 6 weeks $212.50 per person.

Does not include travel expenses incurred by the trainer.

Includes Budget For Practical Day Out.
